I wrote to you on March 3 about the announcement of the change in title of the Hong Kong Police.
In the event
I had hoped that I would be able to make the announcement before the Easter Recess. this did not prove possible, but you will be glad to know that the announcement can be made during the first week after the Recess. If you agree to put a Question down for Oral Answer by me on April 17, I shall be happy to take it at the end of questions. I suggest that your Question might be on the following
lines:
"To ask the Prime Minister if he will consider whether the Hong Kong Police Force should be accorded some mark of distinction in recognition of the loyal and cutstanding services rendered by the Force over the years".
