Thank you for your letter of 6th February which I have laid before The Queen.

I am commanded to say that Her Majesty is pleased to give informal approval to the recommendation of the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs that the Hong Kong Police Force and the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force should be accorded the title "Royal."

The Queen is furthermore pleased to approve, informally, that Princess Alexandra should be approached to find out whether she would be able and prepared to undertake the appointment of Honorary Commandant General of the two Forces.
