We had heard from the Ministry of Overseas

Development about the visit to London which

Mr. P. Y. Tang, Chairman of the Hong Kong

Polytechnic Planning Committee, told

Lord Shepherd he proposes to make in September.

We know in fact that the Committee in the

Ministry of Overseas Development concerned with

Technical Education Overseas (TETOC) responded

gladly to Mr. Tang's request and is setting up

¡ a special group to meet him in September.

It would not seem that any further response

to Mr. Tang's letter is required. No doubt

we shall hear officially of his visit to London

in due course and can expect him to seek an

appointment with the Minister.

If the

opportunity presents, I would propose to

advise him to see the Minister after his talks

with TETOC so that he can give an account of

the progress he has made.
