Kong Government would ask the Ministry of Foreign Trade when considering this request to bear in mind the numerous recommenda- tions of the Contracting Parties of the GATT calling for the
abolition of Consular formalities and the fact that the Italian
Government's requirement for certificates of origin for imports
of a limited number of countries was a discriminatory practice
against Hong Kong,
Her Majesty's Embassy avail themselves of this opportunity to
renew to the Ministry of Foreign Trade the assurance of their
highest consideration.
