I am writing to confirm our telephone conversation of yesterday, concerning the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands and the effect upon them of UK import quotas for cotton textiles.

2.

I understand that the Isle of Man comes under the overall umbrella of the UK quotas, whereas the Channel Islands do not. Any imports destined for the Isle of Man must therefore be included in all returns under the UK quota arrangements. As you know, this is in fact the assumption we had been acting upon.

3. I have stressed to the Home Office and, through them to the Board of Trade, the point made in paragraph 4 of your letter of 13th November, 1.e. that you have no intention of avoiding UK/Hong Kong quota arrangements, but only wish to avoid unnecessarily debiting the quota balance by the amounts of any shipments to the Channel Islands.
