Statement by the President of the Board of Trade on Textiles

A copy of statement was handed to Dr. O'Sullivan, Assistant Secretary (Economic), Department of External Affairs, shortly before 13.00 hours B.S.T. today. In response to enquiry whether new policy would have any effect on Irish textile trade, he was given reply in paragraph 2 of first telegram under reference. His first reaction was that policy would benefit Irish exporters but he reserved any considered comment until statement had been studied by Department of Industry and Commerce.
