The Government have now had an opportunity
to consider the Textile Council's Report on
productivity and efficiency in the Lancashire
Textile industry.

The Council made a number of recommendations
addressed to both Government and industry.
These have been the subject of continuing
consultations with the Council.
3.
Tho recommendations to the industry were
mainly concerned with the need for increasing
the rate of re-equipment, the extension of multi-
shift working and the development of closer
technical and commercial links between the
various stages of production and marketing.
The Government attach great importance to these
three requirements and-are-considering withTM
the-Textile-Council-how these three requiraments
and are considering with the Textile Council
how they can bost be met.
