BRIEF FOR MINISTER OF STATES

Problon

As the result of a study undertaken over the past few

years, the Textile Council have made a number of recommende

tions to increase the productivity and efficiency of the

cotton and allied textiles £ndustry. Their proposalo

Recommendation

2.

I recommend that the Minister of State should

(a)

argue in favour of the retention of the quota

orrangcments and agednot the imposition of a

tari?? on Commonwealth importo;

(b) reserve the position of the Secretary of State
