An Act to grant certain duties, to alter other duties and to make further provision in connection with Finance.

Most Gracious Sovereign,
WE
VE, Your Majesty's most dutiful and loyal subjects, the Commons of the United Kingdom in Parliament assembled, towards raising the necessary supplies to defray Your Majesty's public expenses, and making an addition to the public revenue, have freely and voluntarily resolved to give and grant unto Your Majesty the several duties hereinafter mentioned; and do therefore most humbly beseech Your Majesty that it may be enacted, and be it enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-
PART I
INCOME TAX
for 1965-66.
1. (1) Income tax for the year 1965-66 shall be charged at Charge of the standard rate of 8s. 3d. in the pound, and, in the case of income tax an individual whose total income exceeds £2,000, at such higher rates in respect of the excess as Parliament may hereafter deter- mine.

(2) Section 220(1) of the Income Tax Act 1952 (reduced rate 1952 c. 10. relief), as amended by section 2(7) of the Finance Act 1955, 1955 c. 15. section 19(2) of the Finance Act 1959 and section 12(5) of the Finance Act 1963, shall be amended, as respects the year of assessment 1965-66 and subsequent years of assessment, by the substitution for the words "seven shillings and ninepence in each place where they occur of the words " eight shillings and threepence ", and by the substitution for the words " 3s. 9d.” and "1s. 9d." of the words "4s. 3d." and " 2s. 3d."
