It is rather a long draft this time I am afraid of a newsletter to Mr. Hannam. well think that we can dispense with the paragraph in which I have held forth about the hostile image which Hong Kong is all too rapidly acquiring in official quarters here, but I have done so because I think that some of the correspondence from the Trade Commission although I do not wish to question the accuracy of any of Mr. Hannam's statements - may possibly contribute to them. A newsletter may not be the best place in which to try and tone down these references to anti-British sentiment, but we have got to begin somewhere if real harm is to be avoided.
