Thank you for your letter of 10th December.
I am
most happy that at long last somebody in the F.C.O. has taken the initiative in asking one of the departments to "look after" this particular overseas post. Heretofore, as you know, I have been inclined to look entirely to C... Department in the Board of Trade for liaison with Whitehall. In spite of their willingness, this has not proved entirely satisfactory as there are fairly rapid personnel changes in C.R.E. Department, and sometimes they have difficulty in realising the type of briefing that I want in an overseas post such as this one.
2. I will certainly give some thought to the question of reporting from this post, and I await your next letter with interest.
