Notice to Exporters, Series 1 (Britain): No.20/68

Export of Restrained Cotton Textiles to Britain

during the Remainder of 1968

The current textiles year ends on 31st December, 1968. You are reminded that exports of restrained cotton textiles to Britain must be shipped by midnight on that date. The term "shipped" means that the goods in question must be exported from Hong Kong and clear of Colony waters.

Licensing Arrangements

Your attention is also drawn to the requirement that applications for export licences in respect of 'proposed shipments against 1968 quotas, export authorizations and 1969 anticipated quotas during the period 15th tc 31st December, 1968 must be submitted by 1 p.m. on Saturday, 14th December, 1968.

But applications for export licences in respect of these consig- ments, together with the relevant export authorizations and commercial invoices, should be submitted through the Department's Kowloon Inspection Control before 12 noon on Saturday, 14th December, 1968. The Control will issue receipts against these applications, but no export licences will be issued until two clear working days after the goods have been submitted for inspection.

Suspension of Quota Transfers and Swing

In order to facilitate the calculation of allocations for 1969, applications to transfer or swing quota will not be considered after 5 p.m. on 12th December, 1968. Accordingly, all companies wishing to effect such transfers should make the necessary applications before that date.

Provisional Allocation of 1969 Quotas

Details of the basis of allocation of 1969 quotas and the adminis- tration of controls will be announced shortly. The Department will issu provisional 1969 allocations on or about 20th December, 1968.
