6. It would make sense to look at all pweaters

together.

This has not been done. Our conclusion

is that Swedish fashion has moved against women's aweaters and towards men's turtle-neck sweater/shirts.

7.

Swedish production and imports both increased

by more than half in 1968. Hong Kong sup, lies two-thirds

of the imports. S. Korea most of the rest. Hong Kong

vas strongly opposed to restrictions until a month

ago, but she reversed her position after the Swedes

persuaded S. Korea to restrict exports. Her interest

is now to close the Swedish market to other low-cost

suppliers; the frustrated exports will probably

be piled on top of what she sends to the U.K.

ઇ. Industries 1 think that it is nonsense to isolate Viento part of the shirt market in this way.

Swedish production of knitted and woven shirts has

fallen by nearly half in four years and imports have

doubled from one-third to two-thirds of the markot.

There is clearly an injury case under Article XIX and

Portugal and Hong Kong together account for half the

imports.

9. The U.K. and U.S.A. have a case as well, though

possibly not quite as good as the Swedeo. Our problem

is mainly Fortugal, which enjoys free entry for m.n.f.

shirts.
