ANALYSIS OF SWEDISHI CASE

Annex

Anoraks

Swedish production of synthetic anorako

nearly doubled Letween 1965 and 1968. Exports

increased six-fold. Imports increased five-fold

und by 1968 exceeded production. The only

evidence of injury to the domestic industry is

tho drop of 9 per cent in production in 1908.

Ren' o anorako were restricted last summer,

Hovertheless, production fell and imports

increased. Hong Kong's share of imports was

less than half, Women's anerako were not

restricted until February, 1969. Production of

these increased almost as fast as imports and in

this case liong Kong had an even greater share of

the trade.

2.

The injury caso would look better if cotton

anoraks were included, but the control on these is

to be removed!

3.

Imports from Portugal increased very rapidly

in 1968 and are bound to go on increasing if

rostrictions are imposed on llong Kong.

(The

Swedish duty on synthetics is high).
