Temporary Suspension of Licensing and Issue of Export Authorization.

Except in the case of items (d) and (e) above, the issue of export licences in respect of all these categories of cotton garments and towels has been suspended with effect from 2 p.m. on Friday, 25th April 1969. The issue of further export authorizations for cotton knitted nightwear has also been discontinued, but export licences will still be issued for shipments on or before 31st May 1969 against export authorizations already approved but not yet fully utilised.

Returns for Shippers

In order to facilitate the calculation of qualifying perfor- mance for quota purposes, shippers are now requested to submit to the Department a complete schedule of their exports of the items in ques- tion during the period 1st April 1968 to 31st March 1969. Returns should reach the Department not later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday 14th May 1969 in the form set out in the enclosure to this Notice.

Manufacturers are asked to note that these returne are being invited from shippers only. They are, therefore, advised to ensure that, where they themselves are not the shippers, their exporters submit the appropriate returns.

All returns will be verified against the Department's licen- sing records and any company found to have supplied incorrect infor- mation may be liable to be disqualified from receiving any allocation of quota.
