Hong Kong promised us in their telegram no. 274 about the forthcoming Swedish Textile negotiations that they would send a copy of their note to the Swedish Consul General in Hong Kong. I enclose the one copy I have of this note, together with a copy of the Swedish note which was presented to the Hong Kong Director of Commerce and Industry on 22 March.

You will have seen Hong Kong telegram no. 288 informing us that they were seeking the additional information for which we asked in our telegram no. 227 via the Swedish Consul General. I have not yet seen these additional figures but in an attempt to extract them from the Swedes in good time before the negotia- tions begin, I have telegraphed Stockholm direct.
