Exports of woollen and
acrylic fibre knitwear to Norway
Disposal of Residue of Quota
In Notice to Exporters, Series 6 (E.F.T.A.): No. 19/68 of 19th October, 1968, the Department invited shippers to register details of 'hardship' cases in the form of unfulfilled contracts entered into on or before 24th September 1968 in respect of woollen and acrylic fibre knitwear for shipment to Norway. Firms which were eventually allocated quota on the basis of their past performance had the amounts shipped under the above arrangements deducted from their quota.

It was decided, on the advice of the Wool Committee of the Trade and Industry Advisory Board, that any quantities recovered from quota holders, together with a small quantity of forfeited quota not taken up by qualifying firms, should be allocated to present quota holders as supplementary quota up to the actual amount of each company's performance in the qualifying period (1st October 1967 to 30th September 1968), and that any balance left should be made available under an export authorisation scheme open to all comers on a first-come-first-served basis.
