Sir,
CONFIDENTIAL
United Kingdom Mission,
37-39 Rue de Vermont,
1202 Geneva.
Appendix 2
7 February 1969.
I have the honour to refer to the exchange of letters
between the Director of Commerce and Industry, Hong Kong, and the Royal Swedish Consul-General in Hong Kong on 4 July 1968,
instituting a system of Export Authorisations for five items of
non-cotton garments, to the Royal Swedish Consulate-General's
memorandum of 19 December 1968, requesting the discontinuance of
further issue of export authorisations for three of these items and to the Commerce and Industry Department's Note of 20 December 1968,
confirming the cessation of issue of such export authorisations for
those three items, pending the holding of consultations between the Swedish Government and the Hong Kong Government.
2.
Following our discussions here in Geneva from 5 to 7 February 1969, it is my understanding that it is now agreed by the Swedish Delegation that the Hong Kong Government should resume the
issue of export authorisations for dress shirts, not knitted or
crocheted, wholly or mainly of discontinuous synthetic fibre (excluding dress shirts wholly or mainly of artificial fibre) (Hong Kong statistical classification number ex 841.764) in
accordance with the original terms and conditions of the agreed system of Export Authorisations.
Baron C. de Geer,
Geneva.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your obedient servant,
(Signed) D.H. Jordan
Deputy Director
Commerce and Industry Department
Hong Kong
