On the basis of these figures Mr. Jordan had indicated that he would be prepared to recommend restraint on 841.462 (men's and boys' woollen knitwear) in addition to ex 841.751 (women's and girls' anoraks), provided the Swedes dropped ex 841.764 (polyester cotton shirts). Mr. Kumlin had agreed to cable Stockholm for instructions on that basis. At the commencement of the Fourth Session, Swedish Government reactions had still not been received.

As regards the possible level of restraint for 841.462, Mr. Kumlin suggested the adoption of the formula tentatively agreed for anoraks. Mr. Ho pointed out that the maximum E/A level reached on this item was 563 on 20th December 1968, but this was not reflected in the statement as at 31st December as 5 had lapsed by that time. Mr. Kumlin would accept 563. Mr. Jordan pointed out that even at 563 trade would be disrupted as there had been few E/A cancellations available for re-issue. On the basis of the 1968 figures, a total
