Mr. Jordan observed that the increase in total imports was negligible. Hong Kong's imports had increased, but mainly at the expense of other suppliers. Increase in wool imports was even smaller, and again the increase from Hong Kong had been at the expense of other suppliers. The woollen sector production was also declining because it was losing ground to other fibres, as decline in total production was less than the decline in wool. Demand continued, however, and supplies had to be obtained from overseas.
