I was telephoned by Faltheim, Commercial Counsellor in the Swedish zabaasy, who said he had lastruct- ions from Baron de Geer to inform me of a request by the Swedish Government for discontinuance of the issue of export authorisations, and for consultations, under the terms of the July agreement, in respect of three non-cotton textile

lle items currently subject to export authorisations. described these as!

Womens Jackets and anoraks of man- made fibres;

1)

2)

mens and boys sweaters of wool and acrylic materials; and

3)

mens shirts of man-made fibres.

Faltheim was extremely vague in his description of these items.

3.

Faltheim said the owedish Government wanted consultations as soon as possible and would like these to be held in London between the 7th and 9th January 1969. Baron de Geer had thought this would not be inconvenient to us because he had understood from 2.3.0.4. that the latter would be in Britain for Christmas and should, therefore, be able to stay on for the consultations which Baron de deer anticipated would not take longer than one day.
