A.I.E.C.: Hong Kong Textiles
You will remember that, at our meeting on 7 November to discuss the agenda for the Anglo/Irish Economic Committee, I undertook to reconsider the inclusion of the item "Hong Kong Textiles: Irish Restrictions."
2. I have now discussed this within the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and we have taken the views of the Hong Kong Government. We consider that the item should be included
The although we would not wish to go into any great detail. view of the Hong Kong Government, which we support, is that although it is unlikely that we will shift the Irish, it would be to Hong Kong's disadvantage not to take the opportunity presented by the meeting to discuss the issue in general terms.
3.
will prepare a brief which we will, of course, clear with you.
