Both sides stressed the informal nature of the discussions.
Mr. Jerving suggested three items for discussions
(1) Review of the operations of current agreement.
(2) General discussion in the light of the
American initiative.
(3) Smock jackets.
Agreeing on the order proposed, Mr. Jordan said that in view of his tight schedule for consultations, it would be advisable to fix the date for the next consultations at an early date. Mr. Jerving noted this and agreed to discuss the matter after a review of the working of the current agreement.
Current Agreement

Mr. Jerving observed that the current agreement was working satisfactorily. He asked the trade representatives to make some remarks. Referring to non-knitted garments, Mr. Rønning said that the implementation of the agreements on restrained items, both cotton and non-cotton, was satisfactory. As for items under export authorisations, Mr. Ronning said that during the first quarter of 1969 imports from Hong Kong of cotton suits and jackets, non-cotton suits and jackets and non-cotton slacks increased rapidly as compared with the same period in 1968.
