Hong Kong have long been concerned about the restrictions imposed by the Greeks upon the imports of their textile products. You are no doubt aware of this problem.

2. In September 1967, Hong Kong approached us with a request that we ask you to submit a Note Verbale to the Greeks. We consulted the Board of Trade, who for various reasons held that the timing was inappropriate, and proposed that Hong Kong should wait. Accordingly we told Hong Kong to come back in a year's time, which they have now done.

3. This time the Board of Trade have no objection to a Note Verbale being submitted to the Greek authorities, although they are not optimistic about the outcome. should therefore be grateful if you could arrange for the enclosed Note to be presented.
