Notice to Exporters : Series 4 No. 3/69.

Exports of Man-made Fibre Shirts to Canada:

Registration of Confirmed Contracts for

Shipment to Canada on or before 30th September, 1969.

Following the receipt of a request from the Canadian Government seeking restraint on exports of shirts made from blends of polyester and polynosic fibres from Hong Kong to Canada, and on the advice of the Textiles Advisory Board, the department now invites shippers to register details of outstanding shipments against confirmed contracts dated on or before 26th July, 1969 for woven shirts of polyester/polynosic blends for shipment to Canada on or before 30th September, 1969.

The items concerned are:-

ex 841 762 and

ex 841 764

shirts, dress and other than dress, not knitted, men's and boys', of polyester/polynosic fibres.

Registration must be made with the department in the form set out in the enclosure to this Notice not later than 5.00 p.m. on 30th August, 1969 and supported by:-

(a)

the originals of contracts placed by Canadian buyers;

(b)

the originals of contracts placed by Hong Kong exporters with Hong Kong manufacturers;

(c) originals of letters of credit, if opened.

Only contracts for shipment on or before 30th September, 1969 will be considered.

With immediate effect applications for export licences covering polyester/polynosic shirts to Canada will only be considered if the shipment in question is in respect of a contract already registered with the department.
