Washington telegram No. 19 to Hong Kong: Textile Talks.
As Deniau, Commissioner responsible for external trade, will be having discussions in Washington on 21-22 May, shortly after Stan's return from the Far East, it will be useful if we can inform the Commission as soon as possible about (a) the talks in Hong Kong and (b) anything that may be picked up regarding Stan's reception
in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.

Wellenstein, the Commission's Director-General for External
Trade, leaves here during the afternoon of 19 May. Should we
not be able to pass on the information before his departure, we will
telegraph Washington with a view to their contacting him through the community's Information Office.
FCO please pass Priority to Tokyo, Hong Kong and Seoul.
