6. In conclusion, I should perhaps point out that, for the most part, Hong -Kong maintains an open market for all imports free of tariffs and quantitative bstrictions. There are only a few items such as tobacco, alcoholic drinks, hydrocarbon oils and moter vehicles where there are revenue duties with some element of Commonwealth preference. I certainly would not wish to place und emphasis on bilateral trude figures, but it might be recalled in this connection that in 1967 Hong Kong's imports from India amounted $X.X.50.29 million while her exporte to India come to only SH.K.1.63 million. In contrast, Hong Kong'a isports from Kalawi in the same year oume to $H.K.5.62 million while her experts to that country were 18.K.8.57 million. One of the factors recounting for this may perhaps be that Malawi extends Commonwealth preferences to Hong Kong wharons India does not,
