The specified commodities, by tariff classification, showing the special rates of duty applicable and quota available. Quotas may be applied for in respect of any countries listed in Schedule 1.
The "Brief Descriptions" shown in the 2nd Schedule are not intended to be definitive and intending importers should refer to the Working Tariff for full descriptions. However, where concessions are given on part classifications only (e.g. Ex 44.24.900 (S.Í.31) Household utensils of wood) either the brief description or the statistical item(s) quoted will indicate the scope of the concession.

Attention is drawn to the fact that certain hand-made traditional products of cottage industries of less developed countries may be imported free of duty without quota limitation. Goods covered by this concession are listed in Item 46 of the Second Schedule to the Customs Tariff 1966-1968. Prior applications and quota certificates are not required for the purposes of this concession.
However, to gain the concession the importer must produce to the Collector of Customs, at the time of entry, evidence in the form of a certificate issued by a recognised authority in the country of origin that the goods are in fact hand-made traditional products of a cottage industry of the country concerned.

Names of "recognised authorities" are available from Collectors of Customs.
