Entertainment

In BNEC's booklet "Trade Missions Do's and Don'ts" members of missions are specifically warned "Do not expect social entertainment from posts. They have no special funds for entertaining outward missions". This means exactly what it says. Posts are under no obligation whatsoever to arrange entertainment for visiting missions. Nevertheless there may be occasions when it is appropriate and right for a commercial officer to make use of the occasion for a visiting mission for entertainment within his normal entertainment pattern and within the limits of his entertainment allowances. There is clearly no objection to this: it is entirely at the officer's discretion. It must be realised, however, that the F.C.0. will not authorise any increase in entertainment allowances for this purpose.
