Timetable of action to be taken in connection with the end of the C.D. & W. era

It was agreed at a meeting held under the chairmanship of

Sir A. Galsworthy on 7 February 1969, at which Mr. R.B.M.

King and other representatives of the O.D.M. were present,

that the following actions should be taken in connection with

the expiry of the C.D. & W. hcts:

1. A formal despatch notifying Governments of Dependent

Territories and Associated States of the change in

the procedure for providing development aid should be

issued as soon as possible. The F.C.0. would send the

despatch to the Dependent Territories. O.D.M. would

send a specially tailored version, slightly amended

for presentational purposes, to the Associated States.

O.D.M. hoped to clear the draft prepared by the F.C.0.

within the next week.

2. At least six weeks would be allowed for Governors,

etc., to submit their observations on the new arrange- ments and for these to be dealt with.

3. An arranged Parliamentary Question would be answered

as early as possible after the coming Easter recess. O.D.M. would draft the Question and Answer, clearing

with F.C.0.

4. Press briefing both at home and overseas would be

arranged to coincide with the P.. O.D.M. would draft

the briefing material in consultation with F.C.0. F.C.0. would co-ordinate briefing arrangements with O.D.M. and would prepare guidance material
