Mr. Ernest Thornton (Farnworth): To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Common- wealth Affairs, how many prosecutions were effected in Hong Kong in 1968 for violations of the labour ordinance in respect of employ- ing women and young persons for seven days per week.

During 1968 172 cases, involving 2,151 women and young persons
who were found to be working on their prescribed rest days, were
brought to court.
