I am sorry

it has taken so long to reply

to your telegram no. 285 about Lord Shepherd's visit,

but there have been continuing uncertainties about

dates and details.which have only just been resolved.

One of these was whether Lady Shepherd would be

accompanying the Minister but it has now been

finally decided that she will not. He will

however be accompanied by his Private Secretary,

Charles Godden, and myself. Lord Shepherd and Godden will be arriving by PANAM flight no. P.A.2

Friday

from Rangoon at 4.45 p.m. on the

the 31st. I shall

be flying straight from London by flight no. BA.920 arriving at .3:20 pr.

2.

days private visit to Singapore from 6 to 8 June.

without great inconvenience to you, for him to

stay in Hong Kong and fly straight to Djakarta

on the 8th by flight no. GA 983 leaving at 15.25 hours. 3.Lord Shepherd's visit to Hong Kong

will be in the middle of a strenuous five weeks

tour and he would therefore like it to be as

relaxed and informal as possible.

He is anxious
