Lord Shepherd,

Secretary of State for Commonwealth Affairs,

Foreign and Commonwealth Office, London.

April, 18, 1969.

Dear Lord Shepherd,

I understand that you will be visiting Hong Kong on official business in the near future. I am a producer for Hong Kong Television Broadcasts Limited of a half-an-hour programme in English called 'Youth Wants to Know'.

The format of the programme involves a guest in a question and answer discussion with the permanent Chairman and three students. The programme is taped on Thursday or Friday evenings which involve the guest being at the studio in Broadcast Drive, Kowloon for one hour, either 8.15 p.m. to 9.15 p.m. or 9.15 p.m. to 10.15 p.m. (only occasionally is it done live.)

The programme is a topical one about current affairs, which has had such guests as Mr,, Anthony Royle M.P., the Honourable Mr. Gregg, Director of Education of Hong Kong, Mr. Paul Tsui, Secretary for Home Affairs, Hong Kong, together with other local and overseas personalities in the news.

I realise that you will have a very heavy schedule when you arrive in Hong Kong and that is the primary reason why I am writing to you at this early date. I would like very much to invite you as a guest on the programme when you are here in the near future to talk about your particular relationship with Hong Kong. Perhaps you can inform me if you will be available and the dates and times you find most convenient.

Thanking you for your kind attention on this matter and hoping to have your most favourable reply soon.
