Hongkong warning
HONGKONG, Wednesday. A GROUP of prominent Hong- kong citizens today warned of the dangers of the obsolete colonial- 'style Government here and appealed to the British public to do something about it.
In an open letter published in today's South China Morning Post, the group said it wanted a total re-appraisal of the system.
Unless this was done, the letter said, "the present status quo will increasingly deteriorate to the detriment of the welfare of the local population and the reputation of the British Government.”
It was signed by 18 prominent civic leaders and added that unless changes came soon "public discon- tent will express itself in social disruptions of increasing frequency and intensity."-Reuter.
