Briefing Arrangements

My minute of 10 July.

I have had answers from all recipients of that minute, and I give below a list of all briefs for which the FCO is responsible, including the additional background briefs which departments think are necessary. The list also gives the country notes which have been agreed, and shows who is responsible for preparing each brief. To do this has been made more difficult by the fact that our file on this aspect of the C.F.M. meeting seems to have vanished. There may thus be some people who find that I have garbled their suggestions in my list below.

If so, could they tell Miss England, as I shall be away for two weeks? I am sending a copy of this to Mr. Nagler in the Treasury, who has agreed to circulate a revised CFM(69)A1. This will give you the numbers of the briefs you will be writing.

3. Briefs should be cleared with all interested parties, and 60 copies sent in final form to Mrs. Mills (Treasury Committee Section) by 29 August. Briefs should follow the form suggested in CFM (69) A1, and should be on the same size of paper, namely the new standard A4 paper.
