Mr. John Moreton, the Foreign Office expert on Far East affairs, is reported to have accompanied Lord Shepherd with specific instructions from Mr. Wilson to

get the Hongkong Communists out of gaol." It is hoped that Peking will reciprocate by free- ing the Britons.
