prosecuting officers make no similar contribution in cases where there is a legally aided accused person.

The Bar Committee considers it incongruous that the remuneration of barristers in private practice should be con- trolled by the Chief Justice. This incongruity is accentuated when it is seen that the Chief Justice is given no statutory authority to fix the pay of even the most menial employee in the Supreme Court.
