Colin Jackson, M.P. (Brighouse and Spenborough)
is starting a five week tour of Asia, at beginning of
August, as Chairman of Fabian International Bureau and
of Council for Education in the Commonwealth. He will
arrive in Hong Kong at 13.55 hours on 10 August from
Bangkok and will spend five days in the Colony.
Grateful if single room with bathroom may be reserved
for him (at his own expense) at Mandarin Hotel for
nights 10 to 14 August inclusive.
2.
He is particularly interested in education
(technical training), housing and resettlement schemes
and has asked if a programme could be arranged for him
to see what is happening in those spheres. He has also
asked if he could meet someone who could give him
general briefing on the Colony's economic situation
and would in addition like to be put in touch with the
British Council and Radio Hong Kong.
3.
Letter follows.
