Occasionally we hear direct from an individual M.P. or through the Hong Kong Association that he is making a private visit and would like a programme arranged so that he can see as much as possible in the time avail- able to him. I generally report private visits of this kind to Hong Kong and ask what facilities they can offer. Such visitors may or may not get in touch with you but it would probably be helpful if I were to keep you informed about this type of visitor.

We recently received a letter from Lord Mancroft's secretary about his visit to Hong Kong next October. was after Lord Mancroft had written to Lord Shepherd. sent him some general background literature and also asked the Hong Kong Tourist Association to send him brochures on tourism. In addition we advised Hong Kong. In this particular case, we knew he had been in touch with Lord Shepherd but it might have been helpful to you to know what action we had taken.
Yours sincerely,
