be discontinued, all pensions being computed on the basis of 100% of

5. The Hong Kong Government accepted and agreed to the inmediate
implementation of the general salary wage levels recommended by the
Commission subject to certain detailed variations.

calculated on 100% of substantive salary instead of on 90% as hitherto,
In the matter of leave the Commission considered that the leave
carning rates in Hong Kong were too generous. The Government therefore
proposed that vacation leave cerning rates should be reduced by 25% in
return for the pension concession referred to in paragraph 6 above. The
Association of European Civil Servants protested about this package deal
but eventually it was implemented (serving officers having the option of
remaining on their old terms).
8. The Commission recommended that where men and women are doing
idontical work, or work of equal value, both should be paid the same
wago or salary, and that no differentiation should be made between married
and single women. This recommendation has been accepted and will be
implemented within a ten year period as suggested by the Commission.

is that of Childrens' and Education allowances. The Commission
rocormended that existing education allowances should be retained, but
Chinese members of the Council found it difficult to defend even an
