Secretary of State is ill at present, so we
cannot yet give final clearance for Broposed
approved
programme and formal acceptance of invitation of
accepted
Unofficials for dinner on March 6th, We will however confirm both these points earliest possible, Meanwhile proposed programme appears to us at official level entirely suitable, subject to following comments:
(a) As Secretary of State will be visiting Hong Kong at end of an exhausting tour, we think it would be helpful if tour of Hong Kong Island on afternoon of March 5th could be regarded as expendable if need be.
Presumably this could be cancelled at last minute without inconvenience?
