(d) Parents

A widowed mother of any age, a widower over 60, or a married couple of whom either is over 60, will normally be admitted if they have a son or daughter settled in the United Kingdom who is able and willing to support them and to provide adequate accom- modation for them and for any relatives admissible as their dependants.

(e) Other relatives

the

Relatives other than those mentioned in the preceding para- graphs do not normally qualify as such for admissio United Kingdom. Consideration will, however, be given to the admission of a relative (for example grandparent, aunt or uncle) no longer of working age who has lived for a long time as a member of a family which has settled in the United Kingdom and will provide support and adequate accommodation. Consider- ation will also be given to the admission of a widow who has a near relative in the United Kingdom on whom she is dependent and who is willing to support and accommodate her and her dependants if any.

(f) Persons wishing to come for marriage to someone who is already in the United Kingdom

A Commonwealth citizen will be admitted to marry someone living here if the Immigration Officer is satisfied that the ceremony will take place within a reasonable time, normally three months. A person coming for marriage will probably find it advisable to get an entry certificate before travelling to the United Kingdom. Usually, he or she will be admitted for a limited period and will be expected to leave if the marriage does not take place.

REFUSAL OF ADMISSION

27. For what reasons may an Immigration Officer refuse admission to a Commonwealth citizen?

An Immigration Officer may refuse admission to anyone who is not entitled, or does not qualify, to enter the United Kingdom or against whom there is a deportation order in force (see also paragraphs 28-30).
