I am sorry that I was not able to give you yesterday the
details for which you asked about overtime provisions reported by
Asian countries to the I.L.O. Although information about overtime
requirements is included in reports on ratified and unratified
Conventions on this subject, the I.L.O. do not extract it in
tabular form and do not publish any details.
The Office have, however, been able to let me have particulars
which were readily accessible about seven countries in Asia. Only
Ceylon (100 hours a year); Japan (150 hours a year); and
India (50 hours a quarter) give overtime limits in terms of longer
periods than a week, and I think you will get a clearer picture
from the fuller details enclosed.
