Following Parliamentary Questions by
Mr. Frank Allaun are for oral reply on 27 June:
"To ask the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Affairs

if he is aware that many textile operatives in Hong Kong are working 359 days each year; that women and young persons in the Hong Kong garment industry work a 10 hour day plus overtime, longer than in any other Asian countries; and what progress has now been made with the introduction of legislation to reduce these excessive hours.
if he will call for a report from the Governor of Hong Kong about the communication sent to him by Mr. John Greenhalgh, General Secretary of the International Textile and Garment Workers' Union on 23 May; and if he will include in his proposed labour legislation a universal rest day and a 48 hour week
for women and young persons in all industries."
