I would be the first to admit the difficulty of raising the
standard for women and young persons in Hong Kong to the level obtaining in other Asian countries, in spite of the fact that Hong Kong is a very highly industrialized colony. I cannot however, excuse being mis-led by responsible Ministers on this or any other issue. For this reason, I no longer can restrain action through a sense of loyalty to a Labour Government.
liy purpose in drawing this matter to your attention, is in the hope that definite action will be taken by the British Government in London to remedy the situation in Hong Kong, before I have to address the textile workers of Lancashire on April 27th 1967.
Yours respectfully,
General Secretary.
