Thank you for your letter of 30 July about the
proposed extension to Hong Kong of the provision of
the United Kingdom Copyright Act of 1965, and for
the extremely clear explanation of what is obviously & most complicated subject.
Representations have been made by your Company
on several occasions to senior officials both of this
Department and at the Board of Trade. We have also
studied the memoranda enclosed witn your letter.
Consequently, I think we are fully aware of all the issues involved and of the interests of your Company.
We are, at present, in touch with the Hong Kong Govern-
ment about all aspects of this matter including the
specific points you mention in relation to section 40
of the Act.
In these circumstances, I really doubt whether
any useful purpose would be served by my seeing
representatives of your Company at this stage, though
there may be some advantage in my meeting them at a
later date.
THE LORD TANGLEY, KBE.
(SHEPHERD)
