Thank you for your letter of 26 September
about our discussions on 9 August.
I have put to the Governor (as I undertook
to do) the points you raised with me and I
await his views. In the circumstances I am
sure you will understand that it would be quite
inappropriate for you to report to your
Association that we reached a measure of
agreement. In the course of the discussions
I may have expressed certain personal opinions,
but I was not in a position to record any
agreement with the points you made without
knowing the Governor's views on them.
