Further to my Saving Despatch No.1516 of 11th August, 1967, the Public Order Bill was considered by the Executive Council on the 6th September, and again on the 14th September.
Council advised that the Bill be introduced into Legislative Council as soon as your agreement is received, subject to the following amendments :-
Gud
(a)
Clause 2
Definition of "meeting": the second "or" to read "of".
(b) Clause 20(1)(b)
years"
(c) Clause 22(1) "tramcar" to be added.
"seven years" to read "five
(a)
Clause 49 "vehicle" to read "motor vehicle"
(e)
Clause 50(3) the words "duties" in the third line to to deleted.
I should be grateful if your views on this Bill could be forwarded as soon as possible. For various reasons, in particular the need to regularise the present use of the Armed Services in support of the Police, it would be desirable to introduce this legislation as soon as possible.
