Bow, Trench!
In a statement pledging support to China's recent note to Britain, the Workers' Struggle Committee of Hongkong and Kowloon warned 'Trench and Co.: Your only way out is to hang your heads low and admit your guilt, and to comply unconditionally with our demands.'
After enumerating the various suppressive mea- sures taken by the British Hongkong authorities on and around Chinese National Day, including the murder of Lu Han-pin, the statement went on to point out, "Dauntlessly, our patriotic compa- triots in Hongkong and Kowloon have in the past few days taken action to punish the British Hong- kong authorities as they deserve. We shall niake battle arrangements on an even bigger scale to hit back at the enemy more effectively and with redoubled force.

Hongkong, October 11 Hsinhua correspondents have received many statements from patriotic Chinese in Hong- kong which whole-heartedly support the Chi- nese Foreign Ministry's strong Note to the British Government protesting against the British Hongkong authorities' frantic sabotage of patriotic Chinese celebrations of the anni- versary of the People's Republic of China. Their messages express their heart-felt thanks for this support given by the motherland.

China's leading grain producing province, Szechwan, reports an excellent autumn harvest following a rich harvest in the spring.
This is one of the items of good news coming in at this moment when the whole country is celebrating the decisive victories won in the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution.
In this Southwest China province, the harvest- ing of rice and maize has in the main been com- pleted on four million hectares of land, and shows a total output higher than in 1966. Sweet pota- toes are still being gathered. Some areas in the province have registered the best harvests in their history.
Neighbouring Kweichow province, which achieved an all-time high summer harvest, is now bringing in excellent autumn crops. With the har- vesting of maize nearly finished and the harvesting of rice more than half-way through, it is estimated that the total grain output of the province for the whole year will reach or surpass the existing peak
record. The season has also been successful for silkworm cocoons, tea and fruit.
Honan province in Central China has gathered in its early autumn crops and the late autumn crops are now being reaped. Judging by the re- sults so far, the per-hectare yields of grain, cotton and tobacco are considerably higher than last year. In many areas, bigger rates of increase in grain, cotton and tobacco have been scored than in any preceeding year.
