Hong Kong telegram No.1173 to Commonwealth Office:
It would help me if Hong Kong could inform NCNA Hong Kong as soon as possible along the lines of paragraph 2 of your telegram No. 684 as I had perhaps wrongly assumed had already been done. There is still no reaction from Chinese here and if we are to gain access to Grey soon we must stimulate them.
NCNA Hong Kong have more interest in pushing this than the Chinese in Peking who are in any case much preoccupied by internal events.
